Improvising in response to the work of the Spirit

CMS Oxford pioneer open days and online open evenings 2024

We’re approaching our penultimate dates for our open days onsite and open evenings online this year. We are always exited to welcome potential students to CMS, and find out what inspires.

Pioneering mission is such a connector for our students, they find a source of community with us, and with their fellow students; and also, in serving God in the way they feel called, students are able to work through their own mission.

Dr James Butler says: “In a rapidly changing world pioneers are faithfully improvising in response to the work of the Spirit in the world. Many people who are doing this pioneering work don’t even realise that there are others with the same sense of calling and passion. We want CMS to be a place where people who are doing these things can find others who ‘get them’ so they can learn together and find support and encouragement. I love the diverse group of people who form the CMS community, and how we all have things to offer and to learn from one another.”

Maybe you can be an encourager to a friend who is interested in pioneering, reaching new places and new people for God, and you could suggest the course and our open events to them.

Or you might be thinking of this for yourself, journeying in faith with God, and working your way to a university award, accredited by Durham University.

Either way, we’d love you to get in touch and discuss more with us.

One of our current MA students told me, “Right from the induction day, I knew I had landed!”

And she also said early on in the term, “Two and half months in, and I’m looking at my context with completely different eyes.”

Our awards, in Theology, Ministry and Mission, are accredited by Durham University. You can join us for a one year Certificate or PG Certificate in person or online; a two year Diploma or BA in person, or PG Diploma, or MA fully on line with an African Christianity route available as well as a Pioneer focus.

We have a lot of experience in training pioneers to use their gifts, especially the gift of not fitting in.

Ordinands in the Church of England can train with us. We work through a partnership with Ripon College Cuddesdon. We can even offer an optional tour of Ripon College Cuddesdon to all those who are interested in Ordinand training with us.
