An end of course celebration was held for those completing the Certificate in Pioneer Mission through the Northern Mission Centre on Saturday 1 October at the Fratry Hall at Carlisle Cathedral, reports Lori Passmore, Northern Mission Centre project officer.
About 70 family, friends, supporters and leaders came together to celebrate with those who had completed the course 2021/2022.
Not only were those completing the course given their certificates, we also had time to engage with some table activities, table talk, eat cake and share stories and time together, all to the backdrop of children making origami and constructing lego masterpieces.
There were contributions from two participants on the course, Fran Taylor who shared about her crochet prayer blanket, and Rachel Milburn who read out her poem ‘Everyone Welcome’.
Leaders were also gifted with pirate items (Aarrrghhh!) to thank them for supporting pioneers and to encourage them to think more pirate. 🏴☠️
In total 14 participants completed the course and received their certificates from Church Mission Society with three receiving a certificate of attendance. Eight students from Cumbria were authorised as Lay Pioneer Ministers in their locality.
It was a great day enjoyed by all and we look forward to hearing how those who’ve completed the course go on in their pioneering adventures.
