It was wonderful to be in Penrith for the start of the third cohort of pioneer students in the Northern Mission Centre.
They will do the CMS certificate in pioneering mission over the year with six weekends and small groups inbetween. Richard Passmore and I did a double act around themes of pioneering and mission. The photo is Richard’s portable trellis that he is taking round Cumbria. It is an extension really of the pioneer spectrum. They use the language of ‘time honoured’ where others might use inherited or traditional. But the trellis is a way of creating a landscape for a mixed ecology of church where there is lots of room to play.
If you want to read a bit more the booklet on imaginative mission in Cumbria is a good summary and has the trellis in the middle across two pages.
