Recently Jonny Baker was up in Cumbria for a few days working on the Northern Centre for Pioneer Mission.
He stayed for the weekend and posted some great photos and as he posted he used the phrase “we got weathered but loved it”.
Two things came to mind when I saw the phrase.
Firstly my mind went to portraits of “weathered” people, lines showing someone has lived.
Then there was the context Jonny used it, and how exhilarating it is being out in the hills in all weathers.
In some ways both examples speak to character. Rarely do we set out to do stuff that builds character, often it’s the natural by product of placing ourselves in challenging situations or sticking with stuff for the long haul.
As we launch out with the new northern centre we look forward to the challenges ahead and hanging in there with people as they navigate the courses.
Part of what Jonny and I were planning while he was up was the Pioneer Fiesta in May which will take place near Ullswater.
We can’t promise great weather but we can guarantee great views along the way and if you want to see some of the lake we be crossing as part of the fiesta visit Jonny’s flickr.
