Just back from this year’s missional entrepreneurship week in Devon which more than lived up to expectations again. It’s hosted at the amazing Pickwell Manor which along with the beauty of the area is a wow factor in itself.
The idea of the week is pretty simple – help people take something from an idea to work up how it could be delivered. On the way we explore what makes a good idea, how to hone the vision and values, how to measure impact, put a team around it, monies, business plans, communication etc etc.
It all ends up with everyone doing a pitch to our very own dragons. The pitches were inspirational and just so creative in the range of ideas – choirs, cafes, working with dementia, bike repair business with young people, high speed driving with at risk young people, a nail bar, an illustrated cafe guide, pop up shops and so on… We also hear stories from others who have started things. And there’s a team helping guide people over the week. Shannon Hopkins leads the week together with Steve Baker and they always pull together a creative programme and brilliant team.
Seriously if you have an idea for a project, social enterprise, transformational business then book on the week for next year – the date are provisionally Nov 17-21. It’s an ideal way to explore an idea to help it move towards tangibility.
