Fresh expressions has been going long enough now for the impact to begin to be measured. Measuring always makes me nervous but I get that people need to be able to see what is changing and what is growing. The Sheffield Centre have been really helpful in research in several ways – we’ve flagged them up here several times (though sadly their capacity is currently reduced). This video is worth a look. Clare reflects on research they are doing in a number of dioceses, in particular she talks about results for Liverpool and Canterbury. If anyone is in doubt that recallibrating for and investing in mission and a mixed economy church is worthwhile, this should allay your doubts. There’s also a stereotype out there that this is about middle class church for postmodern types. This shows that to be a completely false impression. I am guessing a lot of dioceses will be knocking on Liverpool and Canterbury’s door to say help!
