In-person, on-site open days are back

We’re excited that CMS Oxford can open its physical doors again for an open day – but don’t worry, there are still Zoom options available if you can’t make it in person.

We have two dates for our Oxford onsite open days:

  • Tuesday 24 May
  • Tuesday 21 June

Timings 10am to 1pm, with coffee at the start and a bagged lunch provided onsite. Zoom options available.

Jonny Baker, CMS Britain Hub mission director, told me: “I always love open days and meeting people who are exploring options. Running them online has worked well but I can’t deny that being able to welcome people on site feels great too. There are so many more options for people now with regards to training because of what we have learned through the pandemic. The latest development is that you can now do an undergrad certificate fully online (or offline or blended!).”

Bonus online open evening

Open Evening – CMS Oxford online – 12 July 2022

NB If potential students wish to join us for an online chat but cannot make the date, we are scheduling short zoom calls during the week. Email us to set something up!

Last year, we welcomed our new African Christian Diaspora MA, which is run wholly online, and so it is great to be able to offer the undergraduate certificate via various means.

We’ve run some modules onsite in Oxford, had modules like Make Good run in Devon and Birmingham, and explored new venues – such as With Community in Norfolk for our graduate diploma level Justice module.

Wendy Hall, on the undergraduate certificate, worships at a URC church. Wendy told me: “Embarking on this Pioneer course with trepidation, I wanted to deepen my identity in being missional and evangelistic. It has done just that. I have been welcomed, encouraged, challenged and inspired, in both deepening my theological understanding and my confidence to be pioneering. Superb.”

Any denomination can study with us, we welcome a variety of people and we work with the Anglican Church with some following the lay pioneer route and others studying to be ordained. For ordination we work through a partnership with Ripon College Cuddesdon. You do not need to be a designated pioneer, anyone accepted for C of E ordinand training can train with us.

Rev Sue Willetts, diocesan director of ordinands for the Diocese of Leicester, told me: “Our CMS pioneer ordinands have enjoyed their studying, being stretched and encouraged to try out new things with an open mind; one says that that their growing awareness of their own increasing confidence has been such a blessing, as they move into their ordained ministry and all the opportunities that will now bring. As DDO I am looking forward to seeing how this training continues to support the mission of the whole church as together we all seek to build the Kingdom of God.”

Take a look on our website for inspiring short clips of students and former students.

At open days, whether via Zoom or onsite, we will:

  • chat
  • share stories
  • listen to others on their journeys
  • find out what’s right for you
  • share questions with the CMS Pioneer team

Our awards, in Theology, Ministry and Mission, are accredited by Durham University. You can join us for a one-year undergraduate or postgraduate certificat, two-year undergraduate or postgraduate diploma, or BA or MA.

The undergraduate certificate can be studied with a focus on Pioneering, Youth, or Children and Family. The MA focus is either Pioneering or African Christian Diaspora.

If you feel that you don’t always fit into regular church and mission settings, you may fit in with us. Please do make contact now.

Booking for open days is essential.
