Breakout – this week!

Somewhat embarrassingly I realise we haven’t blogged about Breakout (although I did over at my blog).

Weds – Fri this week is a gathering of pioneers called Breakout. I have been invited to be a keynote speaker taking two sessions. I have been thinking and musing on what to talk about for months now but it’s finally coming together under the heading ‘dreamers who do’, the title inspired by Gerald Arbuckle – remind me to blog about his work at some point. I will basically be exploring the notion of prophetic – imagination, ministry and mission and suggest this could be a really helpful framework within which to think about pioneering. The hunch I have been pursuing has really come from CMS pioneers in the first year where we have talked about imagination and prophetic imagination a lot more than I expected.

Rather than me talking all the time I have invited others to take part in the sessions. Beth Keith is going to share about the findings of her research and also about her totally brilliant MA into Jeremiah and pioneers (see her chapter in Pioneers4life if you haven’t yet – best chapter in my view). Ric Stott will be sharing about art and imagination and how that connects with prophetic stuff – artists and prophets are always close friends I think. And Harry Baker will be coming along to perform a couple of poems. I had to have a poet – it’s the speech of prophets. And our very own Andrea Campanale will be sharing her experience of pioneering.

So if you’re going see you there! Looking forward to it a lot.

  1. Jonny,

Thank you, so very much for your wonderful input at breakout

are your powerpoints available?—I need to put a major report together PRIOR to getting going with a pioneer engagement—and many of the quotes you used would be really helpful—-sadly I cant write fast enough to have gotten all the ones that would be really helpful

    thanks

  2. Paul good to meet you again. Yes audio, notes and slides will be available shortly. I’ll post something here but I expect everyone at the conference will be notified via e-mail.
