It was a wonderful day on Tuesday celebrating graduations, ordinations, lay pioneers and various endings. It is the end of the sixth year of the CMS pioneer mission leadership training – no idea where the time has gone! As the eighteen people came up they said what they were up to and where they are going (which in some cases is the same place) and it reminded me of what brilliant people we have the privilege of sharing their learning journey with and what a brilliant gift pioneering is. One of the students finishing, Steve Leach had put the celebration together and did a great job themed around the idea of sailing and needing the wind in your sails for the next part of the journey. The centre piece was a boat filled with water on which people put origami boats with prayers for those setting sail. And there was a moment of genius/inspiration where Steve had set up a couple of fans on the boat with a plastic sheet resting on them that became a billowing sail when the fans were turned on. There’s a video on instagram here.
